PEACE LEARNING CENTER AT EAGLE CREEK

About the Peace Learning Center

The Peace Learning Center (PLC), established in 1997, began as an AmeriCorps program of the Marion County Family Advocacy Center. Its initial mission was to help young people learn peacemaking and nonviolence.

Today, the Peace Learning Center is nestled in the woods overlooking the water at Eagle Creek Park. It has evolved into a full-service educational hub for individual and community change.

Mission and Vision

Mission: Peace Learning Center facilitates community learning that acts as a catalyst for peace.

Vision: Our vision is a healed world where strong and caring communities strive together to fully live in peace.

The Peace Learning Center (PLC) aims to foster a more peaceful world through its unique approach to education and community engagement.  The core belief of the Peace Learning Center is that “peace is a practice”.

They are dedicated to helping individuals and communities develop the skills to choose words and actions that minimize harm, lean into challenging conversations, and pursue restorative rather than punitive remedies. The PLC strives to be a catalyst for peace, working to “Create the next generation of peacemakers”.
