INDIANAPOLIS—INDIANAPOLIS—The Images of Nature Photography Exhibit and Competition is returning to Eagle Creek Park. This year’s display will take place September 24-Oct 2nd at the Earth Discovery Center. The Foundation is calling all amateur and professional photographers to submit their work to be displayed during the exhibit.

Artists can enter up to three original black and white or color photographs, but all entries must be developed from negatives, transparencies or digital files, and contain natural settings completely void of human existence. Photos including man-made features and influences like buildings, fences, boats, farm fields, domestic plants or animals will not be accepted.

Entry forms to complete can be found here and are due to the Earth Discovery Center (5901 Delong Road, Indianapolis IN 46254). Forms are due on September 11th.

Photos will be judged in six categories: Eagle Creek Park, birds, animals (excluding insects), landscapes, general nature (including wildflowers and insects) and creative.

For every category, cash awards will be given for first and second place along with “Best in Show,” plus third place and honorable mention will be recognized as well. Judging will be based on impact, composition, technical merit, emotional appeal and presentation.

The entry fee is a non-refundable $30 per artist, which benefits the Eagle Creek Park Foundation. Additionally, 15 percent of every sale supports future projects in the park on behalf of the Foundation. Selling artwork is optional for artists. The event is free to the public with park admission, which is $5 per vehicle without a Foundation gate pass. Entry forms can be found on For more information, call the Earth Discovery Center at 317.327.7148, or email Leah Frenzel at
