Earth Discovery Camps 2008

To register please call 327-7110.

All camps are student-only camps, parents are welcome to enjoy the park and facility. Siblings are not allowed unless they are registered and of the same age group.

Please remember to bring a sack lunch with each student attending a camp in ages 5-6, 7-8, and 8-10. Every camper should bring a water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, and extra old clothes.

Camps for Ages 3 - 5

June 9-13

9a.m.-10a.m.

Little Look Abouts

Lions, tigers, and bears, oh my? Not in Indiana! This camp will teach students about some of the wildlife in their own backyards. Little look abouts will be constantly moving, doing crafts, hikes, singing songs and more! Ages 3-5

June 14-18

Bizarre Bugs I

Join us for this week of buggy activities. Each day we will learn about a different bug, from butterflies to ladybugs. If you like crafts, songs, and hands-on activities then this is the camp for you! Ages 3-5

Water Discoverers

Join us as we discover the life that lives in the water! Be prepared to get wet in this camp as we scoop in the pond, learn about fish, and create water-inspired crafts. Come thirsty for fun, and you’ll definitely leave refreshed! Ages 3-5

Forest Fun

Join us as we explore the forest around us! We will be taking a close look at the plants and animals that call the forest home. This camp is loaded with activities, hiking, crafts, and so much more! Ages 5-6

Water Explorers

Join us to learn all about the wonderful resource known as water! We will explore the wetlands of Eagle Creek and what calls them home! Come prepared to do crafts, play games, and GET WET! Ages 5-6

Bizarre Bugs II         

Come with us as we go on bug hunts, explore bug homes, and create bug works of art!  Each day will be devoted to a different bug and include activities to help inspire young entomologist!  It will be a buggy time!

Creative Nature                      

Nature can be beautiful or a little rough around the edges.  We will be exploring the creative side of nature and creating our own natural crafts.  This is the camp for creative kids who love to be outside! Ages 6-7

Water Investigators

Learn about aquatic wildlife while investigating Eagle Creeks’ wonderful    wetlands!   We will be  getting our feet and hands wet in the new Earth    Discovery Center’s wet lab.  Join us for this hands-on wet and wild camp! Ages 6-7

Bizarre Bugs III                  

This camp will take you into the amazing world of bugs.  Learn about the different life cycles, habitats, feeding habits, and defenses of these creatures.  We will be catching bugs, creating bug-inspired crafts, and many more buggy activities!

Plant Adventures Camp         

This camp gets two green thumbs up!  This is a plant-packed week of activities, crafts, and adventures in botany!  Come prepared to get muddy in our back yard habitat garden.

Animal Adventurers 

It’s a WILD time at the new Earth Discovery Center!  Each day we will have a different group of animals to explore, including a bird day where we will get a chance to meet the Eagle Creek birds of prey!  This camp has it all, from scat to scales! Ages 7-8

Young Naturalist                 

Become an Eagle Creek Park Naturalist in this camp!  Participants will conduct field studies and collect data on a variety of ecological topics such as forest plant and animal   diversity, prairie habitats, and streamside animal   community structure. Ages 7-8

Eagle Creek Explorers       

Join us as we explore all of the nooks and crannies of Eagle Creek Park.  We will be learning about different animals and plants each day.  Come into the new Earth Discovery Center and be prepared to Get Out! Ages 8-10

Strive to Survive      
Sorry - this class is full! :-(
Discover ways to survive the wild!  This is a hands-on, fun-filled week of camp.  We will be using compasses, putting up tents, finding wild edibles, and so much more!   Ages 8-10

Eco-Challenge

This camp will be a week of challenges from a compass course to knot tying.   Come with us as we explore Eagle Creek’s forests, wetlands, and prairies and learn about the ecology of Indiana.  Ages 8-10

Camper vs. Wild

Spend an exciting week exploring the wild side of Eagle Creek Park!  Learn various survival techniques and wilderness tips to help you on your next outdoor adventure!  Activities include, how to use a compass, backpacking tips, and outdoor cooking! Ages 11-14   

July 28 - August 1

Jr. Entomologist

Insects are the most abundant, fascinating, and diverse life form on earth!  Join us for a week long, in-depth study of many of the insects and spiders that call Eagle Creek their home.  Don’t let the bugs get you down this summer, come to camp where we will be catching, investigating, and researching them!
